Have I mentioned before how much I am growing to love photography in twilight? Oh, yeah — here, and here… This time, the starring attraction is Paris’ Champ de Mars, as seen from the second level of the Eiffel Tower.

The Champ de Mars (“Field of Mars”) is currently a public greenspace, stretching from the Eiffel Tower to the École Militaire (Military School), a collection of buildings housing military instruction facilities. The field gets its name from its original use for military training.
I took this picture in a fashion that you’re by now familiar with from earlier posts — clamped the E-510 to some railing with my Gorillapod, set the camera to “Program” mode with a 2 second mirror lockup delay, and let auto exposure control do the rest.
I suppose I should probably crop the image to get the bit of railing out of the bottom of the photo, but didn’t have the heart to throw away that much of the field of view. Besides, I think the railing helps draw the viewer’s eye down toward the bottom of the image and away from the jumble of buildings nearer the horizon.
What do you think?
