A few weeks back, we took a short family vacation to San Diego. We did the usual barnstorming thing, packing as many sights as we could into what was essentially a long weekend. Fortunately, one of our stops was at the Torrey Pines State Reserve.
I took along the E-510 and my selection of lenses (all both of them), and did some experimenting with depth of field. Here’s one shot I took along a trail:

The photo’s composition probably still has room for improvement, but I think it turned out pretty well, all-in-all. If you look closely, you can see a butterfly (almost edge-on) on one of the blooms. I waited and waited for him to turn to a more photogenic angle, but he just wouldn’t cooperate…
EXIF: 70-300mm lens at 70mm, f/4, ISO 100, 1/1600 sec (bright day…)
Along with its Flickr page, this image is also available in the gallery, should you like to buy a print of it.
