I haven’t talked about a Paris photo in a while, so let’s look at this one:

When you just visit a place, it’s easy to focus your attention on a handfull of touristy high-spots, while losing track of everything that’s going on around them. Meanwhile, for the locals, these postcard focal points have really just become part of their daily landscape.
I took this picture (actually, a two-image vertical panorama) on my way past the Eiffel Tower as we were walking to a subway stop. It was a misty, hazy morning — I liked how the atmosphere (figuratively and literally) gave the scene a greater feeling of depth, and how the pedestrians in the foreground are just carrying on with their lives, not paying any particular attention to the tower.
I’ll admit, it’s a bit busy with all the trees in the foreground — but this doesn’t bother me as much as it has bothered some reviewers.
Update: this image is also on Flickr, as well as in the gallery (should you like it enough that you’d like to buy a print of it…).

The title for this shot is perfect! It really does seem to be towering above everything. I think the trees in the foreground add to the shot.
