A few days ago, we made it home from a week-long cruise from Seattle to Southeast Alaska & back — so that means a fresh batch of pictures to share with you all! It will take me a while to sort through all 1500+ pictures I took, but this is one of my favorites so far — it’s a year-old sled dog pup named Sarsha (click on the image to get to its Flickr page):

Considering they’re basically mutts, it’s impressive just how intelligent and dignified sled dogs (a.k.a., “Alaskan Huskies”) are. I also discovered that try as I might, I could never get any of the sled dogs we met to make eye contact. Just as well, I suppose — it makes for good portrait poses!
Meanwhile, I’m thinking that Sarsha might just make a good mascot for Old Dog Photography…
Update (6/20/2008):

This image is also up on Flickr.
