A bumblebee works its way through some slender mountain mint:
I took this picture in a park in St. Louis, Missouri. It has a slight case of “green overdose,” but I like the bokeh and am particularly happy at how crisp the bee looks.
I think I’ve finally discovered the secret of good bee photography — set the aperture to no tighter than f/8 (so you get enough depth of field to work with), and put your camera in continous / rapid fire mode (whatever your manufacturer calls it…). My camera will easily capture 3 frames per second; hold the shutter button down to grab a dozen or so images, and at least one is bound to have captured the bee between its bursts of movement.
