I took this shot on the way home from a long weekend in the mountains:
It’s looking west from highway 17 in Saguache county, Colorado. I really liked the tones in the clouds, and how the rain brought out the depth of the successive mountain ridges — so I just had to get the shot. Unfortunately, I was a long way from home and running a bit late, so I took the shot on the run — at about 60 miles per hour, right through the closed window of my pickup.
I had to do a little post-processing to clone out some power lines, but otherwise it’s pretty much straight out of the camera. I have a hunch this would look good in black & white; I’ll have to remember to tinker around with the conversion a bit…
