This image comes from a shuttered salmon cannery in George Inlet (near Ketchikan), Alaska:
Back when the cannery was running, this was where the (white) managers lived. The workers, all Asian (primarily Chinese) were kept in considerably less comfortable and more hastily-built quarters that have long since collapsed. So while the building may be dilapidated now, back in the cannery’s heyday, it was the fancier part of the plant.
These days, the old cannery buildings are being maintained for tourists to walk by / through — but you can still see that nature is trying very hard to reclaim the site.
