A little twilight action in San Diego Bay:
The lesson behind this image is simple. If you’re dragging a camera around with you, and it’s about sunset — even if you think you won’t use it, ALWAYS have at least a monopod with you.
I took this image some months back when I was new to the whole DSLR experience. We were wandering around, looking for a place to eat dinner, and settled in at a restaurant with a really nice view of the bay. When I saw how good the light was, I desperately wanted to take some pictures while we waited for our food to arrive.
So, the light’s low, I’ve got my 70-300mm lens, and no way to stabilize everything (mind you, all the tables were full). About all I could do was take tons of shots hand-held, and hope one wasn’t very blurry. This is one of two decent shots I got out of several dozen I took.
