We recently had the good fortune to make our way back to the Grand Canyon after some years’ absence. Here’s the first in about a dozen pictures I took there that I’m happy with:
This is the Desert View watchtower at sundown.
The 70 foot tall tower was built in 1932 by the Fred Harvey company, as essentially an homage to the local tribal architectures. Situated at one of the highest points on the canyon’s South Rim, you get a great view either from the rim trail or the windows in the tower itself. That’s the Colorado River in the lower left corner of the image.

Thanks, Andy! I’m lucky here — the in-laws have a place outside of Flagstaff, so it’s pretty easy to work a run to the canyon in as a day-trip when we’re out visiting the relatives.
