An old (film) dog's odyssey to learn new (digital) tricks

It was a dark and stormy night…

October 19th, 2008 in Images, Nature, Night

Well, actually, it was just really windy — with patchy clouds. But you get the idea:

It was a dark and stormy night...

I took this shot in Cocoa Beach, Florida a few days back. It had been rainy on and off all day, and the night promised more of the same.

Still, occasionally some thin clouds would get blown in front of the moon, and I hoped I could eke out at least one decent shot. I tried a few different shutter speeds, and a few different apertures — and out of the dozen or so pictures that I took, came up with this one as the pick of the litter.

I have tried this once not so long ago and took probably 20 pictures. And none actually looked anything like how it looked in real life :) Very difficult shot but you did a good job!

I thought this was an interesting take … it made it look like a far off galaxy … had a spooky blairwitch
appeal to it too …. your title made me want to say … yes … and then ….

For me, this makes for an interesting photo that is not the normal run of the mill photo, but something
very different and exciting … I would like to have seen more of them too … pehaps underneath one
another to show the differences in the techniques used to achieve this particular one … love it,
its got a magical mystical appeal to it … and, …yes ….and then …. ?
