One of the things I love best about our neighborhood is the abundance of parks in easy walking distance. We have three big parks within about a half mile of our house; one of them is roughly half wild (vs. the mowed and manicured side).
So a few months back, I took a walk with “the pup” to the wild park and found a scattering of small flowers mixed in with some wild grass. Here’s one of the more colorful ones:
I have no idea what kind of wildflower this is, but I was struck by the color scheme in it. Yellow in the middle, gradually fading through red and orange toward the outside — sort of a warm color “bullseye.”

You’re lucky, in Orlando, there are only a few parks around (and fewer that dogs are allowed in) and I have to drive there. It can be a real pain in the ass because after commuting to work all week, the last thing I want to do is get back in my car!
