Another shot of the Denver (Colorado) City and County building, all lit up pretty for the holidays:
Yet another image from my Denver Meetup group outing on the December 12th “Photographers’ Night” downtown (if you’re getting sick of these shots, don’t worry — I’m almost out of the good ones!). FWIW, this picture started out as an HDR image made from three bracketed fisheye exposures (-0.7, 0, +0.7 stops), which I then “de-fished” using PTLens software.
Honestly, I’m really loving Oly’s 8mm fisheye — you can use it for some really fun effects, or with a bit of time in PTLens, you can turn its images into really nice ultra-wide-angle shots. Beats the heck out of snapping multiple images and trying to make a panorama from them — at least, you don’t have to worry about getting the shots all lined up with each other this way.
Update:
As a sort of early Christmas present, it turns out that this image made it to the front page of Flickr’s Explore (and made it up to at least #13 in the Explore rankings for 12/23/2008). I know it’s a popularity contest sort of thing, but none of my images has ever been that high up in the rankings before — it’s kind of fun! And courtesy of a new good friend, here’s the evidence of this ephemeral achievement:
