Old Dog Photography

Another flower macro shot from my session with my wife’s Valentine’s Day flowers:

Here, I was trying to see just how narrow I could get with DOF and still get an interesting shot. I took this one at f/4, so it’s not as shallow as the lens (Oly 50mm) would go (f/1.8), but still pretty tight. At f/1.8, I was lucky to get even a single anther in sharp focus. At smaller apertures, more detail on the pedals is visible — which is nice in its own way, but still a bit distracting.
