On our way to a valley overlook, I ran across this interesting little flower by the side of the trail:
I’ll freely admit I know very little about tropical flowers, so I can’t tell you what this is — unless somebody can ID it in comments, we’ll all just have to be satisfied with admiring its beauty…

http://www.flickr.com/photos/anna-pacheco/3856239203/ i asked the very same question…which was answered with a link on my photo…it’s a maunaloa i guess. i found mine near pololu as well, but i have been seeing them a lot more lately around town. either i’ve become more aware or it is invasive…not sure.
