A shot from a recent nighttime photowalk:
The Denver Zoo does a good job of supporting local amateur photographers — every month or so, they’ll host (for a fee) a photoshoot with one of their staff photographers. You get tips, critique, and admission to parts of the zoo that you’d normally not get to see.
Of course, you also have to play by their rules — in particular, no use of shots you take there for any form of commercial work (not even microstock).
Anyway, the zoo is all lit up for the holidays, so this photoshoot included lots of opportunities to take shots of the lights — if you didn’t mind working in fairly cold (~10 deg. F) temperatures. Meanwhile I now know my E-3 will work well below its stated minimum operating temperature of 32 deg. F / 0 deg. C.
