An old (film) dog's odyssey to learn new (digital) tricks

Gone heart-shaped

I’ve discovered that bins of beads can make for some interesting (and easy to find!) photo opportunities. Here’s a shot I took a while back in a trinket store in Albuquerque, New Mexico:

I wish the beads were a bit shinier, but didn’t think the store owner would be too wild about me hanging [...]

Promising

Typical Colorado — a foot of snow one day, sunny and clear the next…

Feline

When I was out for a quick lunchtime walk at work, I saw this swath of cattails by the side of the road…

Territoriality

A vignette seen at the Butterfly Pavilion in Westminster, Colorado…

Floating

I ran across this nice little scene last weekend:

If there’s any moral to this story, it’s that beauty can be found when and where you least expect it. In this case, I found it in a puddle in our yard as the last storm’s snowfall melted. This corner is just dried mud now, [...]

Holdout

One lingering autumn leaf hangs on through the snow…

Dia de los muertos

I saw this in a trinket shop in Albuquerque ages ago, and have been pretty much sitting on the shot, waiting for a fitting date…

In the gates

Getting ready for steer wrestling at the stock show:

This isn’t an action shot in the least, but I like how all the cowboys are interacting. They’re all looking at the lead rider, who seems to be telling them something…
For me, this interaction *barely* overcomes the visual distraction of the yellow railings. Just barely.

Black & white & curious all over…

You might recall this “model” from a previous image…

Foucault’s ceiling

Another shot from the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles; this one is the ceiling over the observatory’s Foucault pendulum…
