A few nights back, a friend gave us some “spare” tickets to a Colorado Avalanche game. At this point in the season, the Avs are out of contention for post-season play, so we weren’t expecting to see a good game — but I thought it’d be a good experiment to see what camera setup would work best for the occasion…
In the gates
Getting ready for steer wrestling at the stock show:
This isn’t an action shot in the least, but I like how all the cowboys are interacting. They’re all looking at the lead rider, who seems to be telling them something…
For me, this interaction *barely* overcomes the visual distraction of the yellow railings. Just barely.
Foucault’s ceiling
Another shot from the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles; this one is the ceiling over the observatory’s Foucault pendulum…
Climber
A Zebra Longwing (Heliconius charitonius) butterfly…
Sparkly
Diving back into my archives, here’s a shot I took in Seattle last summer (take some time to guess what the scene was where I took the picture)…
‘Round the turn
A barrel racer makes her first turn at the 103rd National Western Stock Show…
New arrivals
Another shot from the stock show, this time from an incubator set up for kids to see…
Smarter than he looks
He’s well within his rights, the sign doesn’t say anything about goats…
Making up time
It’s cold and windy outside, and in Denver that can mean only one thing — it’s Stock Show time!
Ornamentkeh
One last Christmas bokeh shot, for “old time’s” sake…
